Swimming Pools
Environmental Health Officers assess swimming pools and swirl pools to ensure health standards are complied with.
At the request of the Medical Health Officers or Environmental Health Officers, the Public Health Engineer will inspect and advise on the maintenance of public swimming pools and water quality.
Under the Swimming Pool, Spray Pool and Wading Pool Regulations, an application must be submitted to the Public Health Engineer for any new construction, alterations or renovations to public and commercial swimming pools including hot tubs, wading pools, leisure pools, lap pools and spray pool. The Public Health Engineer evaluates the application and issues Certificates of Authorization (construction permits).
