The Pain Program’s interdisciplinary team consists of clerical staff, anesthesiologists, a psychiatrist, an otolaryngology pain physician, pharmacists, nurses, occupational and physical therapists, and social workers.
With medical professionals from many disciplines, the Pain Program strives to provide holistic pain management to its patients.
Dr. William J. Davis MD, FRCP(C), Co-Director of the Regional Pain Program (Victoria Site), is an appointed Clinical Instructor for the UBC School of Medicine, Department of Anesthesia.
Dr. Alan Berkman, BSc Hons, MB ChB, DA, FRCPC Co-Director (Nanaimo Site), is also an Associate Professor of Anesthesiology for the UBC School of Medicine.
Our affiliated academic centre provides clinical training for UVic and Camosun Nursing Programs, nurse practitioner programs, and UBC Island Medical Program students.
The Clinical Centre teams consist of:
- Three anesthesiologists per site,
- Physicians with specialized pain knowledge including a psychiatrist and otolaryngologist
- A clinical nurse educator,
- Clinical nurse leaders,
- Registered nurses,
- Social workers,
- Occupational therapists,
- Physiotherapists,
- Pharmacists, and
- Clerical staff
