We serve a population of over 6000 residents, workers for resource-based industry in the area, and up to 400,000 tourists visiting the area each year. In 2007, the Unit cared for over 4000 patients.
We are an urgent and residential care facility with 73 Long Term Care (LTC) beds, 1 respite bed and 1 palliative care bed. We have round the clock nursing and a doctor on call. The following services are provided for LTC residents: Dietician, Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, and a social worker. The other benefits to the LTC residents are the onsite Urgent Care, Lab, and X-Ray. The activation department provides residents with numerous indoor / outdoor / recreational / seasonal activities throughout the year. Special holidays are celebrated with lots of attention and detail.

Our mandate is to "stabilize and transfer to increased care or discharge." The care we provide ranges from biopsy collection, walk-in outpatient procedures, responding to injuries and accidents, applying and removing casts, blood transfusions, and cardiac care.

Adult Day Program
Personal care, activities, health monitoring and caregiver respite for clients with dementia. Some transportation is provided. Home and Community Care manages referrals.

Clients can come to the Centre for a nutrious evening meal and socialization. There is a small charge for each meal.
