Sooke IHN

The following support services are available for patients enrolled in the Sooke Integrated Health Network (IHN) by their family physician.

The Sooke IHN is delivering a new way of health care services that relies on the patient to be a partner in their own health. The purpose of our sessions is to provide you with information and community resources to support self-management of your chronic conditions.

Below is a list of programs and courses available to IHN members.  For information on dates and times, please see Upcoming Sessions on the right, download the PDF program guides on the bottom right, or call the IHN office.

Activities & Classes

Wellness Courses

Assertiveness Skills (participant fee $50) - (EMCS)

8 week program for people who want to learn assertive communication skills.

Body Sense (IHN Office)

Mechanics of weight loss, exercise, portion size, regular eating, snack management.
6 wk session starts:  Wednesdays, June 5 - July 10/13 @ 10:00-12:00

Break Free From Smoking (IHN Office)

7 week program at the IHN office.  Break free from Tobacco Addiction.

Calming the Body & Mind (Sooke CASA)

7 week program to provide simple practices to lower stress levels.

Changeways (participant fee $50) (EMCS)

10 week program for people experiencing depression/anxiety who want to make positive life changes

Craving Change (IHN Office)

4-week workshop to learn how to change your relationship with food.

Insomnia Workshop (Sooke CASA)

8 week course that provides IHN clients with a range of concrete behavioural and cognitive tools to help alleviate insomnia. Physician approval required.

Mindfulness-Based Practices to Prevent Depressive Relapse (Sooke CASA)

8 week course using mindfulness techniques to avoid depressive relaspe.  Physician approval required.

Pain Management Group (IHN office)

8 week course helps you learn how to better manage your pain.

Seeking Safety (Sooke CASA)

For women who experience chronic illness, have problems due to substance use AND may experience PTSD.

Sleep Workshop (Sooke CASA)

6 week course to help you learn how to relax and improve sleep.

Healthy Eating & Cooking

Cooking Out Of The Box (EMCS)

Monthly cooking class for IHN clients referred to the Good Food Box program
3rd Wed of the month @ 4:30-6:30 pm Meet at EMCS lobby at 4:15pm

Good Food Box (Contact IHN for details)

Monthly box of fresh vegetables and/or fruit
Ongoing Program

Heart Health Education Session (IHN Office)

One 2 hour comprehensive once monthly workshop for IHN clients with any heart condition or disease.

Nutrition Course (IHN Office)

Fuelling the body for health.  One hour class once a week for three weeks.

Active Living

Edward Milne Community Education

Punch pass - to be used towards programs from the Community Education Calendar

Food CHI Volunteer Sunriver Community & Allotment Gardens

Seaparc Recreation

One month pass includes a personal tour of the recreation centre and programs. May be used as credit for registered programs.  Ongoing Program

10 week educational program to learn skills to manage your COPD.
Tuesdays Sept 18-Nov 20/12 @ 10:00-12:00

Take Heart

12 week, twice weekly supervised exercise sessions at Odyssey Fitness Centre for those with cardiac conditions. Call IHN for Information

HCC Telehome Monitoring for Heart Failure

3 month program - speak to your doctor or IHN Nurse to see if you qualify
