Campbell River IHN

The following support services are available for patients enrolled in the Campbell River Integrated Health Network (IHN) by their family physician.

The Campbell River Integrated Health Network offers care support services to those with chronic conditions.  We are based out of the Sunshine Wellness Centre at the Campbell River Hospital.  We are connected with 36 General Practitioners (GPs) in Campbell River; additionally, we have two registered nurses, a dietitian, a social worker and a medical office assistant on staff.  Please inquire with your physician to find out if they are enrolled in the program.

Please call our office to register (250) 850-2195 for one of our group sessions.  Individual appointments are also available if required.

Understanding Your Lab Work

A basic session to help you understand target goals and what the numbers mean.

A Good Night's Sleep

Learn about the behavioural and environmental factors that may be interfering with your sleep.  Practical suggestions to try and improve your rest.

Mental Health

Stress - Understand & Influence 

In this 1 day course you will learn how stress affects the brain and body and about self-regulating strategies designed to relax and calm the body and mind.

Mindful Meditation

A weekly group exploring the concepts of meditation and mindfulness.

Nutrition and Weight Management

Craving Change

Understand WHY you eat the way you do, comfort yourself without food, change your thinking, change your eating. This workshop runs once a week for five weeks.

Portion Distortion

Come join our dietitian for a discussion on portion distortion.  Learn how our environment tricks us into eating more than we think. Don't let the food companies trick you with their labelling. Together we will discuss stategies to conquer these pitfalls.

Conversations

Join us for oepn conversations about changing: relationships with time, food and family and debunking the myths around weight.

Aquatic/Land Exercise Program

Exercise programs that are designed for people living with chronic conditions. Both aquatic and land exercises are available.

Walk with the Sunshine Wellness Centre

We are on hold for the summer but will start up again on Thursday, September 5, 2013.  Come walk with us on Tuesdays and Thursdays 12:15 - 12:45 at the Campbell River Common shopping centre, 1400 Ironwood Street, Campbell River, BC.

A self-management workshop for anyone who would like to learn more about ways to take care of their feet and prevent long term complications.

Chronic Pain

Chronic Pain Self Management

Discover how to manage symptoms, make lifestyle changes, set goals and develop problem solving startegies. The group meets once a week for 6 weeks.

Heart and Lung Group Education Sessions

Living Well With COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) - LWWCOPD

In this 7-week education program you will learn skills to manage COPD and adopt healthy new lifestyle behaviours.

Hypertension Workshop

Learn how blood pressure affects your health and what you can do to improve your blood pressure and decrease your risks.

Cholesterol Workshop

Learn how cholesterol can affect your health and how you can improve your cholesterol and decrease your risks.

Smoking Cessation Program

Heart Matters

An 8-week heart health education program. You can join the program at any point and continue in the program until you have attended all 8 sessions. Each of the 8 sessions are one hour long.  These are small group education sessions delivered by a variety of health care professionals including a dietitian, nurse, doctor and pharmacist.
