Regional Support Program

The Regional Support Program (RSP) is comprised of three main components:

  • Chronic Disease Management Forums
  • Practice Support Program
  • Integrated Health Networks

Chronic Disease Management (CDM) Forums

CDM Forums are VIHA sponsored events that provide a venue for general practitioners to discuss issues concerning chronic disease management in Family Practice.

Specialist speakers and program Medical Leads present on chronic disease topics. Physicians and their staff are paid to attend and Continuing Professional Development Credits are available.

Practice Support Program (PSP)

The Practice Support Program is a joint initiative of the BC Medical Association,  the BC Ministry of Health and Health Authorities.  The PSP was developed to support primary care clinical practices in office redesign through learning modules. 

There are three modules currently offered: Advanced Access, Chronic Disease Management, and Mental Health.

The Regional Support Program Team delivers the PSP program across Vancouver Island. These staff facilitate learning sessions and provides ongoing support to clinical practices involved in PSP modules.

Integrated Health Networks (IHN)

The Integrated Health Networks are a joint initiative of the Ministry of Health Services and the Health Authorities. IHNs link patients, family physicians, primary care providers (such as nurses, dietitians, and social workers) and community partners to create coordinated care focused on the needs of the patient.
