Each of the five islands in the Southern Gulf Islands - Galiano, Mayne, Pender, Salt Spring and Saturna - has its own levels of service.

Lady Minto Hospital (Salt Spring)

  • Acute Care

  • Residential Care
  • Emergency Department (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)
  • BC Ambulance transfers to tertiary care by ferry or helicopter
  • Low risk obstetrics
  • Ultrasound
  • Endoscopy
  • Laboratory
  • Pharmacy
  • Physiotherapy
  • Psychiatry
  • Internal Medicine
  • Radioliogy

Pender Islands Health Centre

  • Managed by the Pender Islands Health Care Society
  • Primary Health Care from 2 family doctors and 1 Nurse Practitioner
  • On call coverage by family doctors
  • BC Ambulance transfers to tertiary care by ferry or helicopter

Mayne Island Health Care Centre

  • Managed by the Mayne Island Improvement District
  • Primary Health Care from 1 family doctor and 1 Nurse Practitioner
  • On-call coverage by family doctor and First Nurse Call
  • BC Ambulance transfers to tertiary care by ferry or helicopter

Galiano Island Health Care Centre

  • Managed by the Galiano Health Care Society
  • Primary Health Care from 1 family doctor and 1 Nurse Practitioner
  • On-call coverage by family doctor and First Nurse Call
  • BC Ambulance transfers to tertiary care by ferry or helicopter

Saturna Island Health Clinic

  • Managed by the Saturna Community Club Society
  • Primary Health care 1 day/week from family doctor
  • Primary Health care 1 day/week from nurse practitioner
  • BC Ambulance transfers to tertiary care by ferry or helicopter
