Southern Gulf Islands Health Centres

Five islands comprise the Southern Gulf Islands:  Galiano, Mayne, Pender, Salt Spring and Saturna, each with different levels of service.

Emergency Department
Staffed by a roster of family doctors who take calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with BC Ambulance transfers to tertiary care available by ferry or helicopter

Psychiatry
Quiet room for psychiatric services

Acute Care
19 acute care beds, including 1 palliative care suite

Residential Care
31 residential care beds

Obstetrics
Low risk obstetrics services provided by midwives with nursing support

Additional services on-site
Ultrasound, endoscopy, laboratory, pharmacy, physiotherapy, internal medicine, and radiology

Primary Health Care
2 full time family doctors and 1 nurse practitioner provide primary health care.
On call coverage provided by family doctors and transfers to tertiary care provided by BC Ambulance via ferry or helicopter

On-call coverage provided by family doctor and Nurse First Call  BC Ambulance transfers to tertiary care available by ferry or helicopter.
