QuitNow Registration for Healthcare Professionals

Tobacco Prevention and Control, Mental Health & Substance Use, and Public Health, in collaboration with the BC Lung Association are facilitating the hosting of six, one day, interactive QuitNow workshops across Island Health.


These workshops will enable participants to:

  • Recognize the role health professionals have in treating tobacco dependence
  • Integrate clinical tobacco interventions into their practice
  • Offer tobacco cessation pharmacotherapy support
  • Gain strong understanding of the BC Smoking Cessation Program
  • Refer clients to QuitNow and other cessation supports

Target Audience:

  • Health care professionals interested in learning more on how to assist patients/clients with quitting smoking including Psychiatrists/Physicians, clinicians working in community, ACT staff, Aboriginal Liaison Nurses, Seniors Mental Health, Case Managers, Public Health Nurses, Perinatal Nurses and Pharmacists

Workshop details (each session is from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm).  There is no charge to attend the workshop:

Note: There is no cost for registration; lunch will be provided. In addition, participants receive a print manual and support tools to help promote tobacco cessation in their areas. Workshops are limited to 20 seats and registration will be managed to ensure equity among the target groups.
