Building a Culture of Improvement

Everyone has a responsibility for quality and patient safety in Island Health. We are committed to building a culture of quality improvement that values this shared responsibility and encourages quality improvements in all areas of our work.

Ongoing learning and improvement is one of the many ways staff, physicians and leaders at Island Health show we are living our values every day. Each of us wants to provide the highest level of quality and safety to our patients, and we achieve that by regularly examining our current work practices, identifying ways to make them better and implementing those improvements.

With the right tools and resources, actively applying improvement tools and methods in your daily work can be easier than you may think. Below are some useful resources that provide insight into the philosophy of improvement, ways to generate new improvement opportunities and tools for implementing changes.
