Patient Advisory Council

Who We Are

The VIHA Patient Advisory Council (PAC) consists of 8-12 volunteers who:

  • are patients and/or family members;
  • have had health care experiences; and
  • have a desire to work collaboratively with VIHA and its health care providers.

PAC members all have a positive approach with the ability to share and see diverse points of view, and support VIHA’s commitment to patient-centered care, education and patient advocacy.

The current PAC has representatives from the following communities:

  • Victoria,
  • Chemainus,
  • Nanaimo,
  • Port Alberni, and
  • Campbell River.

Our Purpose

The Patient Advisory Council meets regularly to advise VIHA on providing better patient-centered care and fulfilling VIHA’s Vision of “Healthy People, Healthy Island Communities and Seamless Service”.

We provide a patient perspective to VIHA health care leaders on policies, educational information, processes, improvement opportunities and safety activities.
