How it Works

This page has information about applying for a scholarship at the Vancouver Island Health Authority. To jump to a section, click on a link below.

APPLICATION DEADLINE

The application deadline for all VIHA scholarships is June 1st at 4:00pm. 

Any applications received following the June 1st deadline will be held for consideration by the Scholarship Committee for the subsequent year. 

APPLICATION PROCESS

There are three steps to applying.

  1. Review the Eligibility Criteria
  2. Fill out an application form. There are 3 ways to get an application form:

    Email scholarships@viha.ca with your full name and mailing address noted in the email. The form will be delivered to you by mail.

    Phone: 1-888-98-VALUE. The form will be delivered to you by mail. 

    DO NOT submit tuition receipts or proof of purchase information with your application.  We will not store this information on file.
  3. Submit your application by mail or fax by June 1st to:

All applicants who meet the June 1st deadline are contacted in September and notified of their application status.

SELECTION PROCESS

All applications received by the June 1st deadline are reviewed at an annual meeting of the Scholarship Committee (usually held in July or August). 

The Committee, made up of Finance staff and representatives from Administration, select successful applicants using the eligibility criteria and characteristics specified by the various scholarships. 

All applicants who meet the June 1st deadline are contacted in September and notified of their application status.

AWARD AMOUNTS

Financial assistance is subject to available funding and will be provided as follows:

  • Certificate program: $250 per annum
  • Bachelor's degree: $350 per annum
  • Masters degree: $500 per annum
  • PhD: $750 per annum

The above amounts are estimates based on average annual award statistics.  In special cases, the award amounts may be greater or less than indicated above.
