Our focus is to build research capacity within VIHA.
We provide research support and create opportunities for staff, decision-makers, students, and academics to make connections and find research supports and collaborators.
Thinking about doing research at VIHA? We are here for you!
MSFHR BC Nursing Research Initiative
Lynn Cummings, BNSc, MN has accepted a 2-year appointment as VIHA’s Nursing Research Facilitator. Lynn comes to the position from Seniors’ Health Program where she was the Clinical Nurse Specialist for Older Adult Mental Health and Addiction Services for the past year. Prior to that role, she worked as a Practice Leader/Manager for the Palliative/End of Life Care Program in Nanaimo and, for many years, as Nurse Manager for Victoria Hospice Society. Lynn is currently the Chair of VIHA’s Health Research Ethics Board. VIHA has taken advantage of this unique opportunity, provided by funding from the Michael Smith Foundation, to create a position that supports relevant health services research related to the discipline and practice of nursing. Lynn will be working closely with the Research Capacity Building Team to support, promote and foster good working relationships between the health authority and individuals/groups planning or already conducting research.
