Health Research Database

The Research and Academic Development (R&AD) department at the Vancouver Island Health Authority (VIHA) supports and encourages original research that fosters a climate of inquiry to enhance patient care. We are developing a Health Research Database to:

  • gain a better understanding of the current research landscape,
  • devise ways to support and encourage ongoing and new research activities, and
  • provide opportunities for collaborations and knowledge transfer within VIHA.

The database will be used to create a public listing of names, research interests, experience, and involvement. You will be able to view the broad array of research currently underway in and around VIHA.

As a VIHA, academic, or community researcher, you are invited to join the Health Research Database.  We may also invite you to feature your research in the R&AD research newsletter, which would provide an opportunity for others to learn more about your research.

There are no requirements to join this database other than an interest in using and/or conducting health-related research or collaborating with health researchers.

Objectives

  • To connect VIHA staff members who are interested in conducting and/or applying practice-based research with like-minded VIHA staff, researchers from post-secondary institutions and other community-based organizations throughout Vancouver Island.
  • To alert Health Research Database members of relevant funding opportunities, upcoming workshops and conferences.
  • To become aware of what research is currently being conducted and how it and previous research has been applied to enhance patient care.

To join the network, please complete the HRD form (Word) and email cap_building@viha.ca or fax it to (250) 370-8160.
