Patient-Oriented Research on Vancouver Island

What’s patient-oriented research?

There’s more to health research than participating in a study. Patient-oriented research is done in partnership with patients, answers research questions that matter to patients, and aims to improve healthcare.

Whether you have personal experience of a health condition or care for someone who does, whether you’re a researcher or a student, a healthcare provider or a decision-maker, we need your perspective and expertise to address priorities that matter and improve the health system for everyone.

Ready to make a difference? Learn how you can participate.

What’s the Island Centre?

The BC SUPPORT Unit Vancouver Island Centre connects researchers with patients and families living in the area served by Island Health, and offers services to support and increase patient-oriented research.

The Island Centre is a collaboration between Island Health, the University of Victoria, and the University of British Columbia’s Island Medical Program.
