RJH Fitness Centre

About The Fitness Centre

The RJH Fitness Society governs the operations of the RJH Fitness Centre. In order to join the RJH Fitness Centre, you must become a member of the RJH Fitness Society. 

The Fitness Centre is located in the Patient Care Centre (PCC) in Room PCC153.
FEMALE SOCIETY MEMBERS PLEASE NOTE: we can only grant access to the door of PCC153.  For access to the gym via the Women's Change Room, please contact SECCON directly.

Membership of The Fitness Centre

Membership at the RJH Fitness Centre is open to Royal Jubilee Hospital employees. This includes Island Health staff, medical staff, and affiliate service providers (ie. AFS, MFS, ACML, and ISL Health).

Due to the size of the gym, membership is limited to 500 employees, medical staff, and affiliate service providers, all of whom must work at the RJH campus.

Renewing term members and new members can register for membership at http://rjh-fitness-society.com/.

The 2017/18 membership term is October 1, 2017 to September 30, 2018.  Memberships purchased after October 1, 2017 for the 2017/18 term are valid from the time of receipt/processing by the  Society until September 30, 2018. See "Join the Gym" on the right.

Cost

$144 + GST non-refundable payment, payable one time per year.

Membership dues are payable in full at the time of registration. Dues are non-refundable and membership is non-transferrable.

Membership fees are payable to the "RJH Fitness Society", a registered non-profit society set up to oversee the operation of the Fitness Centre.


Hours of Operation

Members can access the Fitness Centre 24-hours every day with their proximity card, which will be encoded on registration.


Supervision

The Fitness Centre is not supervised. Members who use the Fitness Centre do so at their own risk.

The RJH Fitness Society and Island Health (VIHA) are not responsible for any injury that may occur to individuals participating in any exercise activity. Participation in exercise activity is on a voluntary basis.


Rules and Etiquette of the Fitness Centre

Please review the RJH Fitness Centre Rules and Etiquette (.pdf) before using the facility. These are in place to ensure everyone is able to enjoy their experience in the Fitness Centre.


Fitness Equipment Orientation Sessions

There are no scheduled equipment orientation sessions at this time. 

Lockers

Lockers are available in the Men’s and Women’s change/shower rooms adjacent to the Fitness Centre. These are day use lockers only and not available for rental, as they are for use by both fitness centre members and PCC staff.  Please remove your belongings from the lockers after your workout or at the end of your shift. The lockers are not managed by the Fitness Society and not included in the cost of membership; they are the responsibility of the PCC General Manager.


Towel Service

Members must supply their own towels (and toiletries and soap) for use in the Fitness Centre workout area and change/shower rooms.
