The Eagle Park Health Care Centre has operated as a multilevel care facility in Qualicum Beach since 1993.
Eagle Park Health Care Facility, in beautiful Qualicum Beach, supports a very active volunteer program, serving the needs of its 75 complex care residents. Eagle Park provides numerous opportunities for volunteer involvement from the community. Our residents enjoy: a “Grandbuddy” program with a local elementary school class; a Junior volunteer program with students from Kwalicum Secondary School, and potential university and college students looking to make career decisions in healthcare. The local Art community helps to promote a lending library of art work in our “Art OnThe Move” program.
A favourite program enjoyed by the residents of our Special Care (dementia) Unit is our “Walk & Talk Program", where volunteers take residents, one-on-one, out into our beautiful therapeutic gardens or surrounding park trails for fresh air, friendly talks and exercise. The Rehabilitation staff have regular volunteers assisting with residents, who need more help to take short walks or have standing activities. All residents enjoy the music, arts and crafts, pet visiting, special events and outings, all supported by volunteers of all ages and talents.
Eagle Park, in partnership with the Oceanside Hospice Society, has a committed team of palliative volunteers, always available to support staff and family members. Avid local gardeners help with gardening programs and keep a very busy greenhouse throughout the year. Local entertainers, individuals and groups, are a regular part of facility life.
The Eagle Park Health Care Auxiliary provides many needed services, including a Tuck Shop, beauty hour program and monthly teas. The Auxiliary, with money raised through various fundraising activities, holds the contract for a regular Chaplain and gardener. The Auxiliary also helps to sponsor ongoing community education events. New members are always welcome.
