Volunteer at Queen Alexandra Centre for Children's Health

About Volunteering

The Queen Alexandra Centre for Children's Health (QA), provides specialized health care services to children and youth with physical, developmental and or emotional /behavioral challenges.

Queen Alexandra assists families in meeting identified needs in the areas of physical, developmental, emotional and behavioral challenges of their child.

For more information and general inquiries, visit the Facility page: Queen Alexandra Centre for Children's Health.

Volunteering at QA is a great way to clarify your career goals, gain valuable experience, and build your resume while making a difference in the life of a child. Volunteering can fulfill an unmet need in your work, social or home life.

Qualifications

Volunteers are required to assist on the same day and time each week for a period of at least three months. There are limited volunteer opportunities for people under 18 years of age; most volunteers are adults.

Intake Process

In addition to reading and following steps on the How to Become a Volunteer and Frequently Asked Questions pages, volunteers must attend:

  • Information Session, which covers the history and services of QA and the role of volunteers.
Please come a few minutes early, and bring your date book for scheduling an interview.
  • Screening Interview
  • General Volunteer Training Session

All volunteers must consent to a criminal record check. Volunteers placed in the preschool programs must also get a doctor's note of wellness.
