The West Coast General Hospital is a community hospital with 52 acute beds. A separate 32-bed multilevel care facility is located on the same property (Westhaven).
The hospital was constructed in 2001 and offers 24-hour emergency room services, ambulatory care, acute medical/surgical and psychiatry services, and includes cardio pulmonary, diabetes education, laboratory, medical imaging, nutrition counselling, pharmacy and physiotherapy services. Clinical specialists include anesthesiology, general surgery, urology, obstetrics/gynecology, paediatrics and radiology, along with our strong family physicians.

Current Openings for volunteers:
- Join a very active Auxiliary (100 strong!): help in the Auxiliary gift shop; participate and support Auxiliary fundraising activities.
- Join the Candystriper program for young volunteers.
- Gardeners are needed to look after a new patio garden area.
- Friendly visiting with long stay patients on the medical/Surgical unit.
