To maintain a safe workplace, VIHA must ensure access to timely and effective first aid when an employee is injured. This requires provision of appropriate facilities, equipment and supplies, and most importantly, properly trained Occupational First Aid Attendants wherever they're needed.
The Wellness and Safety Department's Safety Advisors support the Occupational First Aid Program by:
- Coordinating the program
- Helping those responsible for specific first aid services to comply with requirements of the program and related regulations
- Providing information about training to managers / supervisors
- Participating in assessments of the program
